VINCENT DI FATE ART

I do like this artwork by Vincent Di Fate. I think its an Omni magazine cover from 1983. I used to read Omni in the late Seventies.

Vincent Di Fate is not a space artist I know. Do you readers?

  1. Never heard of him either, but his work is exceptional. The 1970s/1980s is when detailed and refined Space Art really exploded. Good Space Art requires, among many other things, exceptional drafting skills, as pictures of vehicles and such are, first and foremost, technical drawings. So drawing skills are key..

  2. Vincent Di Fate has done quite a bit of science fiction art beyond the glory days for hardware art in the 70s. I had a chance to see him at a recent Boskone (Boston SF con) where he was artist guest of honor. Very well versed in the genre as well as several other artists at the con and himself participated in a panel of "guess the artists" as a variety of work was projected and they guessed who it possibly was. He was fairly accurate. Not surprisingly since he did edit "Infinite Worlds"(1997) which was a collection of various SF artists. Monsters in Motion even worked up a replica of his Nautilus design.
