ART FOR ARTS SAKE

I was sent this nice email from Woodsy this week from regular reader, Lewis Morley and Woodsy suggested I post part of it here as it regards my recent  post on the Supercelebration art display.

"Hi Woodsie, I was really impressed with Scoop's comics art posting. Not the least because it explains a ten year old mystery for me!

I LOVE Japanese SF art -Shigeru Komatsizaki's Anderson works (going all the way back to Supercar!) are the best! If I could paint competently, that is the style I'd like to produce.  -Anyway, almost 10 years ago I was working towards my first exhibition and one of my (unsold) pieces was a 3D plaque inspired by a Japanese illustration from 1967"

And here's the artwork that Lewis talked about including his own excellent piece.

And this is the piece of Mike Noble Zero X comic art, below that inspired it.

Many thanks for sharing, and, of course your kind words, Lewis.

  1. That Japanese illustration is a killer! Anatomy of a Rock Snake revealed! Would love to learn what it says there in Japanese.

Thanks for sharing Lewis, great to see your take on the subject.
