Well, we're all revved up and nowhere to go here at Moonbase.
We filled the car with surplus stuff and spare junk yesterday ready to rock over to the local but infrequent car boot sale just down the road.
Alas we double checked the weather forecast last night once more as did the car boot organisers. The rain prediction had made a surprising jump up to 80%.
This wet prospect was enough for the car boot to be cancelled at the last minute late last night.
We were gutted.
On waking this morning we're doubly gutted as its brilliant weather and no sign of rain!
Has this ever happened to you?
Missus Moonbase was so aggrieved that she drove to the venue in the village to make sure we weren't missing a sudden sale!
Nope.
I'm not looking forward to emptying the car!
If you are at a boot sale or a toy fair or a convention I hope you have great day. If you need any new stock then drop me a line. I have a car full!
I find that the weather app on my phone is as much use as if I held the phone out of the window and brought it back in to see if it was wet! Today it issued a warning for heavy rain, when I selected this for details, the first line told me that some places would remain dry!! What use is that!?
ReplyDeleteIt is annoying but I suppose its as much an art as it is a science predicting the weather. We used the Met Office yesterday. 80% chance of rain forecast for this morning . Still no rain here! We could have sold everything by now! One possible way out of this no-show is to leave the car full of stuff until Wednesday when the mod-week car boot is on nearby. Fingers crossed for a better forecast!
Deletemod week? mid week!
ReplyDeleteYesterday we were lucky to have a bright warm sunny day to sell at the bootie, Woodsy. We've spent most Saturday mornings this summer sitting in the sun selling portions of the mountain of excess junk I've accumulated over the years. Sadly next week is the last car boot for us this year, weather permitting :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous Tone! So how many boot sales have you stood [or sat!] at this summer?
DeleteNot sure how many, Woodsy. Mrs. K is more the standing leader/dealer type. Me, I prefer to sit and drink coffee. I'm not a people person, but I am a people watcher, which is part of the enjoyment for me. However, there's also something satisfying about connecting people to things they want. I sold a life size cardboard Cyberman standee to an ageing Doctor Who fan that I could relate to. Defying domestic danger, he told me his wife would kill him for buying it. I reassured him it would be okay as he'd probably regenerate. We both laughed like the kids we really were. It's those silly moments where people briefly connect that I enjoy the most :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good team dynamic Tone, I'm sure the Doctor Who fan felt better for buying the standee from your good self with your knowledge and passion for sci-fi.
