What's the Weather Like Where You Are?

It's unusually hot here in Blighty. Incredibly hot for the North of England where I am. If it lasts it'll start to feel like the Indian summer of '76 or even the storyline of the sobering flick When the Earth Caught Fire!

Like the lady said in Predator it grows hotter this year though. Heading for 30 degrees!

Me and the mutt can feel the effects of the heat. Outside its boiling hot. Inside the house, with curtains drawn and fans whirling, its much cooler thank God! My Missus is on the Continent where its even hotter, nudging 40 degrees on the mercury.

So, what's the weather like where you are readers?

    1. I miss Farebheit. I grew up with it. Never experienced triple digits as a kid but always recall that the 70's and 80's meant a great sunny summer Bri! By the way, I saw Trenton NJ in Hellboy II last night on TV. Looks like a huge hill or plateau. Do you know it?

  3. On Monday the temperature was around 100 degrees F in NYC. We were out on Long Island and drove back to the city in the evening through a thunderstorm that had flooded roads. Driving time was almost double the usual.

The city in recent days has lost electric power in certain areas, the subway has failed on certain lines and tempers are short for many people.

    So really nothing new here.

Old infrastructure either public or private owned is not upgraded because of profits first or absence of political will. This doesn't prevent politicians for blaming every one but themselves.

Mankind is it's own worst enemy.

    1. Hot summers in the City can be difficult. I live in the country so latent heat isn't such a problem but its still very hot. They've just announced on the News that all trains will be going slower in case overheating trainlines buckle under the strain. Sounds like we have to get used to extreme summers and winters from now on. Climate change will change everything I fear. Follow the water.

  4. Its been pretty warm during some parts of the day where we are, although not as bad as reported in other parts of the UK. Wales is generally a cold and wet place... Two days ago there was a nasty thunderstorm, lightening and the full works, but we all [including the cat] slept right through it.

Generally, I can tolerate heat better than most people, but last night it was so hot, I switched the air conditioning unit on. The heat must also have affected the nerve pain I've suffered with since I was five. Because after the roasting we all had yesterday, I woke up this morning pain free! - Which is a pretty strange experience... How long this will last I have no idea, but it must be to do with the warmth. Maybe I ought to move to a hotter country, like the Sahara!

    1. We had a similar thunderstorm on Monday night Bill. I could see the lightning flashed through my closed eyelids! Fifty thousand strikes is what they reported across the UK. That's a lot of energy! So glad your nerve pain has calmed down in this heat. Sometimes a change of temperature or climate can do that. My old mate Pete suffered terribly from eczema at school. His knuckles would regularly split open. He emigrated to Australia when he was 20 and no more eczema. I hear there's a vacancy at Saharan Radio for a Station Manager! ha ha
