ANDY'S ROBOTS

Hi Woodsy,

As promised, some images of my toy robots.

They are mostly, if not all Chinese, often small copies of 1960s-ish Japanese ones. Nothing valuable, but they enliven my workroom.

In the first image, the large robot is actually a sweet tin I found about a year ago.

In front is my smallest specimen, a lego robot (courtesy Bill B.) and a plastic robot containing a biro, to which I added some colour.

The second shot shows the main line-up below a bookshelf. My most recent acquisition is the small black one, I think inspired by a large Horikawa robot.

This was armed with a sword, which hardly seemed appropriate for a robot, so I made him a ray gun.

The 1960s version had three guns in its chest, so I hope he does not feel too outgunned... Behind him is a particular favourite, a light blue one which seems to have taken its inspiration from a gas meter...

all the best,

Andy B.

  1. I really like toy robots. What a wonderfully quirky bunch you've assembled, Andy... and what better way to brighten a room! Great to see them here :)

  2. There is something satisfactory about a Robot Tin that can hold Tin Robots. Nice collection.
