Bandai Terrahawks mini models, a range of smaller toys (3 inches average) and small carded diecasts. There was a further range of action vehicles with clockwork and pullback motors, I think Hudson may be from that range. These were deformed versions of Hawkwing, Battletank and maybe Battlehawk, with huge wheels underneath, that I never bothered with.
While I was never interested by Terrahawks, these look nice models.
ReplyDeleteI agree. these look great Bill and fine shots too. I didn;t know you were such a big Terrahawker. Oddly enough it was a Terrahawks toy I found first at my first ever car boot sale looking for old toys, the Action GT Terrahawks battery operated Game. It was ace!
DeleteI’ve never had a chance to see Terrahawks, but those vehicle designs are terrific! Color scheme is right on, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm like you Zigg. They do look supercool!
DeleteTerrahawks as a programme was pretty lacklustre. I anticipated a new Thunderbirds, judging by the marketing material put out by Bandai in advance of the release, but the show is really quite silly and insipid. The dumbed down action and villains were aimed more directly at an under 8 audience, despite some in jokes and more adult references. The models were brilliant, if the cinamatography and action was a little wobbly - watch Hawkwing rise out of the whirlpool to see what I mean. Like the new release of Andersons Firestorm, the puppets heads are way too big, presumably to try and echo the earlier supermarionation puppets, as opposed to Captain Scarlet and Joe 90, which were much more human looking. The villains too were weak, Zelda's cackling soon wore thin and her ridiculous whining siblings were no better. possibly the most annoying part was the continual re-use of the same puppets - Sram, the draconian like martian, Yuri, the aggressive teddy bear and the other shape shifting alien, which were continually rolled out in rehashes of the same episode. Supporting characters like the Zeroids and Stew Dapples got too much screen time with limp jokes and repeated FX.
ReplyDeleteBut on the plus side, the vehicle designs are undeniably wonderful and the series also includes a fabulous MEV, which unfortuantely never made it into a toy!
