THE TROLLENBERG TERROR FOR HALLOWEEN

For monster films you should really try to see The Trollenberg Terror.

Renamed The Crawling Eye for the US it is the movie version of a BBC TV story from the 50's.

The movie stars Forrest Tucker. It was I believe a British newspaper review of this film that transposed the first letters of his names to Torrest F....................!

It was a lot scarier on TV possibly because of the home invasion possibility and I was younger.

Woodsy replies: I agree Terran, its a classic! The Trollenberg Terror Scared the bejeebers out of me when I saw the first headless climber in the comfort of out TV room! Never before seen anything headless when I was wee monster fan in the Sixties. I'm amazed these films were on TV back then. We only had 3 channels in the UK and black and white monster films were on all the time thank God! Yay!

By the power of the tinterweb here's the full US film courtesy of You Tube while it lasts. No breach of copyright intended.

Not sure if any toys were ever made. You?

TROPE ON A MOTORCYCLE: MOTORBIKES IN HORROR AND FILM

Motorbikes are a staple of horror films.

A trope in fact.

They often crash, stranding the main characters in an evil place and as such start the eerie tale.

A good example of this can be found in the Legacy starring Sam Elliot, Katherine Ross and Roger Daltry of the Who no less.

The crash at the beginning can lead to much more gruesome events as in Canadian shocker Rabid by David Cronenberg.

Although not a crash, perhaps the most iconic of all horror bikes is Death riding a motorcycle in the Monkey's Paw from the original Tales from the Crypt.

Motorbikes became psychopomps in Psycomania, literally carrying the dead back from the grave. How society must have feared the black leather-jacket to have made a film like this. Hell's Angels!

Leather was sex itself in Girl on a Motorcycle as motorbikes became objects of desire in many films and not just horror.

and finally a film on my bucket list, the bikes really are the stars in Electra Glide in Blue.

Have you a favourite motorbike flick or do you know of any more horror bikes?

WITHOUT A PADDLE ON HALLOWEEN

Browsing my photos I had to chuckle at this one I took last year.

Its a pumpkin in a canoe!

Have you got a humorous Halloween picture?

I SHOULD HAVE GOT ONE FROM THE CLEARANCE SHELVES

They were selling these toys off cheap at Toys R Us back in the early 1990's. The big boxed Tower was tight there in front of me but my arms were full!

Did you or have you got any Supernaturals?

FANGS ARE IN ORDER

Will you or your kids be wearing plastic fangs today?

HOWLING FOR HALLOWEEN

I love horror movie locations.

Check out the locations of the Howling and get ready for Halloween.

I found a few myself over the years as well as props but here's a site that lists loads of locations in the werewolf flick.

Enjoy. Grrrrr!

COLLECTING TAXIS: THE LAST STOP

To round off this short series of posts about Terranova47's fascinating taxi collecting here's a link to a much longer article he wrote in the magazine of the London Vintage Taxi Association in 2015. Enjoy.

I hope you've enjoyed this series and the other occasional forays into non-Sci Fi  related subjects that I feature now on Moonbase Central.

Taxi!

Seeing Terra's Taxi posts put me in mind of some Kinder Surprise Taxi models and other cars, I had used to make some vintage style photos a while ago.
