When Alien met Alligator

Seen a few more monster films on You Tube of late.

LEVIATHAN was a decent undersea effort starring Robocop and Rambo's Colonel. Essentially ALIEN in a sub - it was like most of the flicks in this sub-genre. I enjoyed Deep Star Six more for some reason and get these two mixed up now! Do you have a favourite?

ALLIGATOR II was the second installment in the old Alligator franchise. I loved the first film and enjoyed the tie-in paperback immensely one summer holiday. Number II is a less effective chomp although I lasted till the final snap so that's saying something. With a savvy businessman at its centre it reminded me of ....

JAWS III, the grandaddy of 3D. Who can forget the three dimensional floating severed arm as the titles rolled! This flick has a bite radius as big as, well, your screen and people will remember it for the huge shark heading for the undersea glass lounge if nothing else. Starring decent young actors like Simon MacCorkindale  [Quatermass Conclusion] and Dennis Quaid [Day After Tomorrow] it charts the latest splash of the Brody brothers, now all growed up and living, yep, by the sea, as always. Imagine introducing a pirahna into Sea Monkey World and you have Jaws III.

Currently quarter way through TENTACLES from 1977, a mixture of Spaghetti Western and It Came from Beneath the Sea. I'm a sucker for this stuff.

I wonder if any of them spawned any toys or merchandise?

What have you watched recently?

    1. Not seen that one Brian. I liked the Jaws game and enjoyed finding the odd boxed example at boot sales.
