THE SPACE HARPOON

I was intrigued by the prospect of a Space Harpoon being launched. It was on UK News this week.

The idea is to harpoon space junk and dispose of it before there's an impenetrable ring of the stuff orbiting the Earth! Or that's how I read it.

The harpoon will literally spear chunks of decaying satellites and take them somewhere. Where I'm not sure. Maybe they'll build a recycling plant that looks like the Nostromo!

I got to thinking if the space harpoon would have made/ make a decent toy. I can see it as part of the Tri-ang SpaceX/ Golden Astronaut range or maybe even a Thunderbirds spacecraft. Number 7? What do you think?
