All things Tomland by brian F.

I have always enjoyed the unique designs of the Tomland collection.

Here's a few pics, starting with 2 of the 3 3/4 inch Starroid Raiders proudly brandishing their weapons.

Next, it appears the 8 inch Oov has found his groove, giving Moonbase Central a hearty thumbs up. He is lacking his shirt, tie and lab coat, but I replaced them with Action Jackson's snazzy windbreaker.

Lastly,in the final photo of your article,I noticed the "Ferocious Fly"bears a resemblance to this rubber fly that came to me on an Easter Sunday encased in a clear plastic egg full of candy.

Here's a pic of him, missing a wing but otherwise looking good for his age of about 40 years!

  1. I recognize the rubber fly, Brian. They were joke shop faves over here when I was a lad. Possibly still sell them even now in party shops? Nice to see he's survived for so long, along with your vintage Don Post Werewolf mask. A nice piece of vintage preservation :)

  2. That Easter was a particularly beautiful day in my memory.I can remember getting dressed up and eating lunch at a seaside restaurant in Cape May.On a funnier note, the fly wound up in the tithing dish at church, among the usual donations.I'm lucky the minister gave it back to me!

  3. ha ha, a minsier with a sense of humour Brian! Tomland fascinate me. They seem to span both crazes that book-emded the Seventies, monsters and star wars. Their Famous Monsters of Legend celebrates those great Universal films we adored as monster fans. I understand that they couldn't get the brand tag Famous Monsters of Filmland from Forrie's pioneering mag so went with Legend instead. The Starroids 'celebrate' Star Wars and I imagine that some of them are loved by Star Wars knockoffs collectors. They must be quite early in the game. Lovely collection Brian. It amazes me that you have all this stuff in your house!

  4. I think a selling point with Starroid Raiders is they came with 2 weapons.Note I have an extra gun in the pic.I have a third body that somehow lost his head over the years. He was a blue Cyclops alien. A spare head is one of the things I am searching for at flea markets and toy shows.

  5. "A spare head is one of the things I am searching for at flea markets" ha ha. One of the best lines all month that Bri! yep, a spare head would be great especially after a whole day with feral schoolkids!
