I remember having the Dinky Sea King helicopter and Apollo capsule when I was a nipper. It was a chunky die-cast chopper.
I loved the hook oon the string which winched the pyramidal space capsule up and down.
Not sure if I ever lowered it into water, although it probably floated. Did you have a splashdown?
I just can't recall if it came with astronauts. Would a SpaceX Golden Astronaut fit inside? Alas I am without the Sea King set these days so can't check!
I've got one. There are astronauts moulded inside the capsule (I think) but you could fit golden astronauts in.

Deletevery true, in those days, i deferred models to my dad. I had the model hanging from my bedroom ceiling. After xmas one year, there was a piece of xmas paper decoration hanging from the tail and being a curious and impetuous child, i thought it would be fun to set it alight. Naturally, the paper burned in seconds, lit up the plastic tailplane and before I could reach it to extinguish it, melted the plastic and dripped a glob onto my hand. Ive still got the scar to this day!
Deleteha ha! You rascal! I have a toy related scar from childhood too. I tried to cut a plastic bus in half with scissors in an attempt to make a spy cigarette lighter! Needless to say It didn't work and I gauged a chunk of meat from my little finger! It may have even affected my fingerprint on that one! ha ha This could be a thread, childhood toy accidents!
