film night: the norliss tapes

I shall be watching this old creepy movie tonight on You Tube.

Maybe join me?

  1. From the off, it reminded me of a fave 70s cult made-for-telly movie and its follow-up TV series, Kolchak: The Night Stalker. Many similarities, including style, structure and format. Afterwards, I checked The Norliss Tapes on Wiki and found that it was originally intended as the pilot for a TV series which sadly never made the small screen. Wonder if the movie and the planned/panned TV series were inspired by Kolchak, Woodsy ? Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed watching it, especially on a cold dark Friday night... the traditional night for horror films here in the UK.

    1. Yes, I enjoyed it a lot too Tone. G;ad you did. I know what you mean about Kolchak. Its a film noir with a vampire thrown in and really well done. I've always liked Roy Thinnes since Invaders. Norliss reminded me of Salem's Lot too and Night of the Demon in some ways probably the Professor trying to debunk the occult and then coming face to face with it. Norliss doesn't really explain who Sargoth was and the ending about a letter leaves it hanging. I wonder if Tape 2 was going to be the start of the TV series?
