A TRIO OF SKY 1's

Following on from my recent post of a trio of Zero X models, here's a trio of SKY 1 models, the first being the lovely detailed Konami model which I blogged not so long ago.

The next one up is the Imai SKY 1, which, as it's really a toy rather than a model lacks in accuracy, especially the air intake, but with a little work, and a few extra decals it can still look quite appealing.

Finally, the SKY 1 from the Product Enterprise SKYDIVER. I think this is a nice accurate shape, unfortunately, slightly let down by a little too much weathering.

  1. I do like the Product Enterprise version. Personally, I rate their work very highly. They made some excellent models in their day. I have the XL5 & Stingray. Think I read somewhere that they'd planned to venture into Erwin Allen territory, although I guess this never reached fruition... or did they actually produce a large version of Seaview, Scoop? I think I may have seen one on eBay in the past?

    1. Hi Tony,Yeah, I like Product Enterprise stuff myself, but sometimes the weathering did let them down - their original Mobiles and their SPV are cases in point. I believe they did have plans to do Seaview, and I have seen what I think are prototype models 'surfacing' on eBay, but sadly they ceased trading prior to it's release.

  2. they did release the seaview,i saw one in comet miniatures
however the completed models that were released had a bad paint finish if memory
serves.they also had plans for the flying sub, spindrift and jupiter 2
all featured in protoype form in various adverts before they went under.
They also were supposed to be releasing the ufo interceptor in a 3 pack with an alien figure,i spoke to someone in their office who confirmed this but alas
    that also failed to materialize.

    1. I'm not sure if Product Enterprise actually commercially released Seaview, but I do know that Comet Miniatures were invoved in the prototypes. Strangely enough,Derek McLean , he of the film talks I mentioned in a previous post does have a Comet Miniatures Supercar model which is exactly the same as the P. E. version apart from a slightly different figure of Mike Mercury and thicker aerials, so maybe that's what you saw. I did buy some Round 2 Eagle accessories from Tony James at Smallspace last year. If I see him again at a similar event this year I'll ask him about it.
