A TRIO OF MOBILES

Continuing my look at  comparing three examples of the more popular toys or models from Gerry Anderson's TV  series, I thought I'd check out the SHADO Mobile.

The Product Enterprise Mobile set are fine examples. When they first appeared the model was ruined by slap-dash weathering, as can be seen by this SHADO Control version.

Some brave people attempted to remove the weathering by using acetone with predicable results.
However, Product Enterprise did re-release their Mobile line with much more subtle weathering showing off  the lovely detailing in all it's glory.

The small but perfectly formed Konami Mobile is another favourite of mine. I should really pick up a couple more to complete the trio.

Finally, the perennial DINKY SHADO 2, a green mean rocket-firing machine. This little beauty has been a fan favourite since it first appeared in 1971.
I love it, even though Dinky chose to paint it green in line with their idea that it was military, and military vehicles are green. That did change in time when it became blue and more outer spacey.

  1. I love those photos. The Imai kit wasn't bad either.

    1. Thanks Kev. Yeah, the Imai kit would have made it if I had one. I should invest in one, they're generally not too expensive. In fact I'm quite fond of most of the Imai kits for all the Anderson series, even though they have their gimmicks.
