FOCUS ON SOME KONAMI MOONBASE MODELS

Following on from the Konami Eagle and Hawk photos, here's some snaps of my Konami UFO collection,in particular those models associated with Moonbase, beginning with the Interceptor,SHADO's first line of defence.  Moonbase has three operational interceptors, each armed with a single missile. As the invading UFO's are travelling at incredible speeds, targeting has to be instantly computed by S.I.D. meaning the lunar based Interceptors only have time for one shot at their target.

Below, the Space Intruder Detector, the eyes and ears of SHADO. S.I.D. provides the targeting coordinates for the Moonbase Interceptors , and capable of tracking the UFO's even though they are travelling close to the speed of light.

The Lunar  Carrier which acts as a lifting body for the Lunar Shuttle which takes supplies and  personnel to and from Moonbase.

The Moon Mobile or Moon Hopper, used to transport SHADO personnel across the lunar surface.
(Although I took the photo, this is a Konami model I don't own, as it comes with the 'Ultimate Collector Set', which also features a tiny Interceptor launch silo, so apologies for it's rather mundane surroundings)

Last but certainly not least, the Konami Gay Ellis figures that came with the first and second releases of the original UFO set.

I'll tackle the Konami Earthbound Ufo models in my collection next.

  1. I like the quality of the Lt. Ellis figures, Scoop. They look very well detailed. Wonder if Konami produced other characters from the series, or was the focus on the craft?
