ASTRONUT, KOZMIC KIDDLES AND THE JETSONS: WE LOVE YOUR SPACE CARS!

space_1

In my dreams I found this in a Christmas stocking! I've always kept an eye out for the origin of this strange little spaceship called Space Adventure. Its from the Hover range of SpaceX-inspired miniature toys from the Seventies.

I saw this old OTHER WORLDS Science Stories cover the other day and it sort of made me think of the Hover toy. It's from 1950.

In a way the Hover Space Adventure reminds me a little of cartoon space cruisers like the one the Jetsons had in 1962.

and the one Astronut had too

and of course those cheeky urchins the Kozmic Kiddles

Any more mini space cruisers readers?

  1. While technically not a real space cruiser, the ferry ship for the robot spy from Jonny Quest reminds me of this shape on a more "realistic" level.

    1. See what you mean Lance. I loved Johnny Quest back in the Sixties. That deltoid shape reminds me of the craft that Marine Boy zoomed around in too. I also have a VHS cartoon called Ghosts of the Deep, which I think has a similar ship. I will have to have a look now or else it will bug me all day!
