The Four Trees of Christmas

Well its already 2014 and Xmas is nearly over. One of the things I'll miss the most is the tree. I love Christmas trees. I always did, especially as a kid. There's something mystical about living with a decorated tree in the home for a while in midwinter. Unusually, our Christmas featured four trees this year. I managed to photograph them all so I hope you like them as much as I did.

It is customary to leave up the tree and decorations into the New Year but no later than Twelfth Night, January 5th [Old Christmas Day]. The practicalities of life, however, usually mean that our own tree is usually put away in the loft for another year within a couple of days of the New Year beginning. Still, I get to live with this strange illuminated green cone for a day or so yet. Sounds like a UFO doesn't it!

When do you take your tree down readers?

  1. Great shots Woodsy! I love the Christmas tree too. As much as I don't relish putting it up every year, once it's up it becomes a twinkling treasure that I find hard to put away for the year. Every year is a little different for us and occasionally the tree stays up a tad longer than it should, but I believe it will be taken down this weekend.
