Christmas Presents I Got Every Year

Every Christmas there were always surprises when I was kid. The big stuff like a Chopper bike, a Captain Lazer or a Johnny Seven. But nestling between these were always those Xmas prezzies I got every year, what you might call Christmas standards.

Here's a list of my top five Christmas standards:

1. Cadbury's chocolate selection box
2. A Parker Pen
3. An Oxford Geometry set in a tin
4. A Ben Sherman shirt with penny round collar, Pink Parallels [trousers] or similar [later]
5. A packet of Steadtler felt pens or Crayola crayons

What were your Xmas standards readers? Do you give a standard to someone nowadays?

  1. In my house when growing up the stocking always had candy and fruit placed and there was always a small toy but never the same type of toy. Clothes were always present but could be anything from shirts to trousers to sweaters.

  2. Bloody socks, tangerine and lately, a hat and scarf!

  3. When young, often had a selection box with chocolate/sweets. The best ones had a cardboard model to make on the back.

  4. For some reason there was always an orange in our stockings.

  5. Three cheers for Cadbury made in the UK !!!

I had a friend in Scotland that come each Christmas we would exchange a box of UK Cadbury bars for good old old Hershey bars made here in the USA. We both whole-heartily felt we had a comeuppance on the other as to receiving the better gift !
