Not being particularly interested in the updated Doctor Who
series, I rarely pick up any of the tie in merchandise associated with the
current series. I do, however bend that rule when it comes to any interesting
toy dealing with those sons of Skaro, the Daleks.
I came across this intriguing 3D cardboard diorama playset
by Character Options Ltd featuring a scene from yet another Dalek Invasion of
Earth.
It depicts London in the year 2075AD following the invasion.
The backdrop shows the battle damaged Elizabeth Tower. A Dalek emerges from a
flying saucer which has landed near a ‘Tran Sys’ underground station.
Obviously, some assembly is required but the end result isn't bad .
The Dalek in the scene is one of Character Options smaller
series 7 figures. This isn’t included in
the set.
The big pull for me is the bonus feature, a rather nicely
detailed Dalek Hoverbout.
Worth the cost of the set alone, which, by the way was just
under a tenner.
There are three other sets in the series, although none of these feature the Daleks.
Even though it’s a modern interpretation the whole thing
does put me in mind of the sixties and the original Dalek Invasion of Earth!
Not bad, but I prefer the original hoverbouts as seen in the 1960s Annuals and TV21!
