The Army Game

No mention of Timpo can be complete without a brief look at their soldiers. My earliest memories include toy soldiers, Timpo and Britains standing proud amongst their ranks. Here are some of the later twin sets and a veritable flotilla of landing craft! I know the Britains Deetail Recoiless Rifle and German mortar team are among woodsys memories too!

  1. Lovely collection, Bill. Ideal for a diorama.

  2. Great pics! I didn't know about Timpo until I started buying 1/32 scale armor and figures. I never really got many though, sticking mostly with FOV/New Ray/21st Century. As a kid I had mostly Marx, Ideal, Rel, and MPC ringhands.

  3. bit of nitpicking: the US figures have a recoilless rifle that was only being introduced in 1945 and thus more suited to the Korean War (same as the Jeep with such a weapon supplied to GI Joe/Action Man). What's really inaccurate is that it wasn't meant to be fired into the air for a hyperbolic trajectory, but in a straight line of sight (and usually against armour). :)
