He had the distinction of being the first newsreader to appear in vision on BBC TV in 1955.
I mention his passing here on the blog as he appeared in several film and TV sci-fi productions including a cameo in one of my favourite sci-fi films, 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as one of my favourite B movies, They Came From Beyond Space.
Yes Scoop, yet another of the pioneering TV generation passes away. I grew up with the Sixties and Seventies newscasters like Kenneth Kendall, Gordon Honeycombe and Reginald Bosinquet. Although quite austere and very Queens English I have fond memories of them all and I know my parents will have trusted what they said on the telly!
