Dinky Ed. Straker's Car

Dinky’s Ed. Straker’s Car was released in 1971 and proved to be a popular and sought after item with UFO fans. It ceased production in 1975.

It was generally available in metallic gold or yellow with pale blue, black or white interiors.

As can be seen, mine is the metallic gold version with pale blue interior. Another Dinky I’ve had from new and somehow managed to keep hold of the box, although it’s looking a bit dog eared nowadays.

Purists might argue that it’s shape is less than accurate, but I really like the look of this Shado car.

Don’t recall seeing too many ads for it but I did find one from the back page of a Valiant comic.

  1. Ed Straker's car was cool looking but I had read somewhere that the real one was hot, smelly, and didn't handle well! I guess not all TV prop cars can be the Batmobile!

  2. You sure are right about the car, Ed. Apparently it's brakes were a bit dodgy too! It's not surprising that Comr. Straker himself, Ed Bishop wasn't too keen on driving it.
