In case anyone missed the comments to
The Future Never Become, Paul has pointed out that one of the models pictured on the cover of the book is the Zorglumobile from the Spirou et Fantasio comic strips. (It's the red vehicle with the four rotors, to the right of the boy's head.)
He also found this movie on YouTube of a flying model! Thanks, Paul.
Now if only someone would make a radio-controlled flying model of the SpaceX Nuclear Pulse.
Just read your follow-up comments, Toad, and I'm glad the library has some Spirou titles, even though they're later stories by Tome and Janry. What's pretty frustrating is that the publisher's website appears to be seriously on the blink, for they have quite a few Franquin stories available and google shows there is supposed to be an online shop on that site.

everything up to Nr 16 is by Franquin, who in my humble opinion far surpasses Hergé as a comic strip artist. It's all much better observed, and detailed and more alive. His Gaston Lagaffe series is very funny, and his later Idées Noires (Black Ideas) are excellent too. It's a pity so few of it is available in English...
Maybe contact the publishers and see how far you can get? http://www.eurobooksindia.com/

And then I had a better look at that list, and the Zorglub story was actualy published in the US. If there's one I'd recommend to try and get then it's this one. Extracts here:

Seems the library has just the one title. But that's one more than I dared hope for.
