He claimed to have seen and photographed alien ships, and met with aliens. Which is totally crazy, cos we covered our tracks completely and no one has any idea we are here. We never even met the guy. Really.

I've just thought ("ouch" makes note to not to try that again!) .... don't the alien ships from "The Invaders" look a bit like that? It's late ... I can't remember. Does anyone know?
The Invaders ship is similar, more of an updated version of the classic 'adamski' The photographs he showed were later proved to be models. Man was a complete crank
Although a hoax; the Adamski saucer photos had an enormous impact on the public. That design with its distinctive 'gravity balls' became the template for what people expected a UFO to look like in the fifties.
I guess the question is, "was that influence a good thing or a bad thing?"
Yes, it's good to fire the imagination in films and books ... but isn't it just a little bit scary so many were taken in? That kind of gullibility worry me at at times. Or is it not so much gullibility as a need for there to be something more than the every-day (which I can understand completely)?
