Alvis has Left the Biulding

I loved my Airfix Alvis plastic truck during the late Sixties. It could always be found on my bedroom floor full of Airfix troops ready for action in Operation Take The Carpet! I'd say the Alvis was easilly as important as any of my soace toys like SWORD or SPACEX and the great thing was they were all mixed together in glorious play! I must try to find one again. Anyone else like the Alvis?

Pretty good page that, btw, which I just found for showing the thing. Must have a look through the rest of that site.

  2. I loved the Stalwart ( It doubled as a Shado mobile ). I did collect all those Airfix ready made soft plastic vehicles along with the little plastic soldiers. I seem to recall that the Stalwart was 1/32 scale.

  4. Yep love the Alvis, also had the Airfix Cromwell and Hannomag. Carpet wars! Anyone notice that Airfix have brought back their 1/32nd scale soldiers but you only get half the number of figures in a box now! Blimey.

  5. The Matchbox Alvis was the best! The colour (white) and the cool big lettering (Exploration) made it the coolest Matchbox car I ever had. (I had no idea what "BP" meant. Now I realize it wasn't exploration for its own sake but to look for new places to drill for oil. I also have a Corgi, Dinky and this Airfix Alvis.
