One of my most favourite catalogues, collected by my dad during a trip to London. So well thumbed and battered over time its held together wih Sellotape! Its another source of frustration and fascination for all the things the fat guy in the red suit forgot to bring me as a kid!
Wonderful post Wote! Great memories! I was 10 when this lot was available and had quite a few of them. I loved the book Rulers Of Britain! Still got one!
ReplyDeleteive got a checklist of stuff on here ive bought on ebay since then:
ReplyDeleteMach 10 rocket
Playplax
Luna-Cy
Spacenik
Hot Wheels
PennyBrix
Puzzle Cube
Six in One Toy Mobile
Funny Men
Just need the Johnny Seven and that cool Rocket Firing Tank!
I went to Hamleys so many times just to look around when I was 11-ish. It was all so exciting in the approach to Christmas. Always packed! Staff demonstrating toys. Lovely displays!
ReplyDeleteBut somehow, I never had a catalogue back then. Great to see one now!
Great Stuff.
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary model of a Soviet tactical missile launcher on the "kits and models" page -wonder who made it.
Groan... what riches!
ReplyDeleteFunny Men fire engine set (p4) is a revelation though.
And the Decimal Shopping game (p7) is pretty funny as an idea!
I'm sure that's my parents' roulette set on p12.
And my R/C Mustang on p21.
Anybody else also have that Laboratory set (p12 again)?
And Wote, that Toymobile set on p3 looks rather Mortoys? Can't make out the detail on the chassis, but what do you think?
Many thanks for showing that!

ReplyDeleteGod, just seen those dinosaur models. Wow. I loved those as a nipper! Think they were Pyro? The best was the Dimetrodon! Dinosaurs, now that was a craze. Maybe every generation has it?
