Free

I love rock music. I still listen to vinyl every day [well, I am a luddite! my PC is steam-powered!]. On the turntable today is Free, one of the best bands of all time. Sadly far too short-lived, had they gone on I think their talent would have made them the biggest band in the world at the time. Paul Rogers had the best male rock voice around [possibley ever] and the late great lead guitarist Paul Kossoff, superlative bassist Andy Fraser and drummer supreme Simon Kirke completed a power quartet as rockin' as anyone around, dare I say it, even Zep! Once you've steered around the worldwide smash All Right Now and taken in the power pop of Wishin' Well you'll discover a band of amazing range capable of the most heart-rending ballads, foot-tapping blues and the unmistakable thrang of early hard rock. With a fabulous back catalogue of albums, discovering Free's reportoire is a real treat and for a rock fan who hasn't already then get to it. You won't be dissapointed. Here's one example of Free's slower bluesy side, Be My Friend, courtesy of You Tube.
