IRON MAN 2

Went to see Iron Man 2 last night. I enjoyed it but it needs to be darker. They just don't make enough of the suited battle scenes. Anyone else seen it? To celebrate seeing it here's Black Sabbath's IRON MAN. Play it loud! Watch it though, it's heavy! I think they had to change the lyrics back in the 70's as the Mighty Marvel were miffed. I remember the original Iron Man suit in the early comics. Now that was class. He looked HUGE!

  1. I don't believe I have ever read an Iron Man comic. Were they any good, Woodsy?

'mistrids' - bit on the side for a man suffering with a cold.

  2. I loved all my comics Toadster. Buying them at the local shop on holiday in Abersoch, Minehead or Pwehelli was one of the high spots of summer holidays! Monsters, Super Heoes, Sad Sack, Archie - anything really! Like Batman, Iron man didn't have any super powers unlike say Spider-Man. Iron Man aka Tony Stark was a genius however, super rich and the inventor of the world's most powerful armoured suit, which he wore, hence the name Iron Man. He was a member of super team The Avengers, which comes out as a film next year! Yippee!

  3. As a child, I got most of my American comics whilst on holidays in Kent - Supergirl, some Batman (which I could never quite align with the television series), and the Scrooge McDuck comics (anyone remember the time-travel one?). Also a Mickey Mouse comic in which he was a spy, with a car somewhat like Supercar - in fact, it was rather like Danger Mouse, but with a completely different style of humour.

I also remember Sad Sack. And I had a Josie and the Pussycats comic too.

It was the covers of those superhero comics that were the big draw for me. Remember the one with a tiny Batman standing on the palm of a larger Batman who in turn was standing on the open palm of an even larger Batman? Or the Superman cover where he needs a life saving injection, but no hyperdermic needle can pierce his skin? Or the one with Lois Lane flying on a broomstick like a witch?

I have noticed at comic fairs that there are compilation DVDs of some comics. They can be a bit of a risk - the Space Family Robinson disc I have has a couple of duplicated files instead of all the issues. I'm sure that was nothing more than a simple error on the part of the compiler. Still ... be warned.

I wonder if those Iron Man comics are available that way? Anyone know?
