New to the Moonbase Garage is this awesome LP Moon Explorer, a Moonbus clone par excellence. Much bigger than I thought it was at about 5 inches it arrived finless, radarless and sticky on the friction drive.It was promptly sent to the Wotan Parts Shop for wotanisation. Here's the finished result, suped up and running like a lunar dream. Thanks Wotan!
its a damn fine toy - almost didnt make it out of the repair shop! Its on my ebay hitlist for the future now!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, when I took it apart to repair the radar, on the bottom of the axle that turns the radar as it rolls was a small wheel of the same type that we usually see on the little white Apollo Moon Exploring 'sleds' that are copied from the Matt Mason line. Its another chicken and egg - was the wheel originally made for the crawler as a gear and then used as a wheel on the sleds ?

ie, it was used for something prior to both?
