PROJECT SWORD FOR THE 21ST CENTURY!

ITS COMPETITION TIME AGAIN! Get your heads together for a chance to win a fabulous prize, kindly donated AND SIGNED by top space history author, Rob Godwin from Apogee Books - the 'Lunar Exploration Scrapbook'! Stuffed full of moon vehicles, it's really excellent!

SO WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO ? To win this cool prize, I want you to look at the vehicles from the SWORD fleet, and design or draw a new version of any of them for today. Captain Scarlet and Thunderbirds have been re-designed to new styles - with mixed results! What might Project SWORD with its mixture of powerful spacefaring rockets and rugged all terrain vehicles look like given a true 21st century feel ? The designers of the original line did a beautiful job at the time, but what might the toys look like if produced today ?

RULES First up - don't panic if you cant draw. I'm looking for originality of concept, while being recognisable as one of the SWORD fleet. You can present anything from a quick biro sketch like mine above, to a technical drawing to a fully fledged model in 3d or even LEGO! What I dont want to see is existing toys with bits stuck on, e.g a scramble bug with 8 wheels or a repainted Task Force. Entries must be submitted electronically in pdf, jpeg, photoshop file or eps. I'm easy. Myself and the Lord of Sword will be judge, but please send any entries to me on the WOTAN Hotline!

TIMESCALE Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to submit your ideas before the closing date of 19th October.

  3. What about that Baylis Saturn V then? Wind it up for 10 years and it flies for a minute. That's modern.
