A trip to Featherstone Re-value netted me a few odds 'n' sods today.
Two cheap Lesneys, a small novelty record player and an Outer Limits annual I've not seen before. You?
There were two vintage Outer Limits cards as well, nicely housed in plastic wallets, priced £12 and £15. Ouch!
I nearly bought this old pulp mag for the startling cover alone but I passed. £4 would have stretched my wallet too much.
Those creatures don't have heads!

Cracking haul, Woodsy. I've got that Outer Limits annual. Such a cool find!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen it before Tone. There's another one I think with a monster on top.
DeleteNot sure I would have bothered with the record player, as its fairly modern. The Outer Limits cards were pretty cool, I got a full set as a kid, but was utterly terrified by the coloured images of the Glob, Zanti Misfits and the Chromite! I was really disappointed when I eventually saw the original TV series and realised it was all in Black and White! Bill
ReplyDeleteLittle record players a Xmas bingo prize. I do love miniature record players and the like tho! Yes, the bubble gum Outer Limits cards are quite something. I wonder if they were re issued like Mars Attacks?
DeleteThe Fantastic book has some good authors in there, Harry Harrison and Fritz Leiber - but James Tiptree Jr is my favourite. Tiptree was a pseudonym for Alice Sheldon, who wrote really deep and psychologically complex - as well as downright funny - stories up until her death in 1987. He book of short stories 10.000 Light Years from Home is well worth searching out and has a number of these standout stories. Sheldon reportedly had two entirely separate writing desks at her home, where she worked as her alter ego and as herself. Tiptree was awarded many honors in his writing, but Sheldon kept her identity secret for many years. Bill
ReplyDeleteFascinating Bill. All new to me. You do know your sci fi writers.
DeleteI like the crain truck. I still have mine from childhood.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I had one as a kid as well. In good nick for 50p!
