As Orion zooms towards the dark side I saw this old flyer for space resorts on Florida's rocket coast. I've heard of Coco Beach but not the other two, Titusville and Melbourne.
Assuming "familiar with" means that I have for multiple decades been aware that they exist, yes. Titusville from both space and railroad history. Melbourne from railroad history. Both involving the Florida East Coast, FEC, in the 19th century.
Has been so long since I read that book the info is no longer in my memory. Because of some neurological things, such as autoimmune disease, I haven't had a television since 2008 and haven't gone to cinema since the 1990s & at this moment I can't remember if I saw that film or not.
I stayed in Titusville in an Air-BNB with my family a few years ago while on holiday in Florida. The Air BNB was a late 50s/early 60s house furnished in old early-60s furniture so gave a reminder of the "Right Stuff" era. And from Titusville we could look across the lagoon to the Kennedy Space Center launch complexes and Vertical Assembly Building. We also visited Melbourne, which is south of Titusville, and (of course) the Kennedy Space Center itself. Cheers, Tony P

Fascinating Scott. I bet they're in the book and film The Right Stuff, are they?

DeleteSorry Scott about the cinema. There's been some great flicks. No TV means no news, which is a good thing as it's all bad.
