THE CAR FROM UNCLE

As The Man from UNCLE TV series is coming to Talking Pictures TV in the UK in the New Year, here's a look at my AMT model of the UNCLE Piranha.

I have to say, as an experienced plastic model kit maker it's not the best. Nevertheless, I did make two just in case I thought it was just me, but no, both are equally as hideous and needed a lot of work just to make them look reasonable.

I was, however pleased to read that the owner of the actual Piranha shared my original post on it.

Here's a more detailed post I did a few years ago.

A post I did on the Corgi Thrushbuster.

  1. Great work as usual! I sympathize with your concerns re: these TV franchise tie-in models. They were often very poorly designed and molded, a result of them being one-offs or "rush jobs" in my opinion, and you just had to work around these issues to bring the kit to life. Aurora was infamous (in my opinion) for coming up with crummy kits for popular TV shows, and the Japanese SF genre had its share of rush-job wonders as well. Nicely done. SFZ

  2. I admire the labours of a fellow modelmaker!
I did a similar Moonbase post about restoring a Husky toy version of the Piranha.
A little hard to locate it amongst the bulging back library of MC posts, but here's part 2 of a three part series....
