Awhile back Looey reminisced about an Italian tin moon surface board game he had as a kid and couldn't find online. I've looked too and no luck yet, but I did find a whole flotilla of other vintage space games from L'Italia. See what you think.
That 3rd one down, "Missione Spaziale" brings back memories. It was one of the cards from the Board game "Count Down" which was my favorite as a little kid, even if I didn't totally understand it. You had to build a rocket to go to the moon, researching and buying little plastic pieces to get a 3 stage rocket and space capsule.
There were cards you could draw: Espionage and Sabotage. It was kind of like Monopoly.
I also think I had a pillow case with that illustration on it.
This post is by an Australian, so I assume he must have bought his from the same batch as mine. It turns out it wasn't Italian, but Japanese -by Epoch. I really must try Googling their output.
Yes, your EPoch find was fabulous Looey. What a game too! We forget how space travel was such a global phenomenon back then, with board games in every part of the world.
Wow!

Amazing Scott. Countdown looks great! I love the modern shots of guts playing the game on that BGG link!
DeleteThe art on those boxes should be in a museum - wow! SFZ

But sleuthing all these bonafide Italian space games is no mean feat! What a feast for young space age eyeballs!
