Hello Woodsy
When I think of my favourite war films I think of ................. One of the actors was a star of the very first episode of The Twilight Zone.
I loved the aesthetic of the Grumman F9F Panther and early US jet fighter powered by a Rolls Royce designed engine.
I suggest posting my image asking for someone to identify the movie.
Anyone?

Bridge at Toko Ri?
ReplyDeleteThe Bridges at Toko-Ri is correct.
DeleteThe Bridges at Toko-Ri, with William Holden. Also one of my favourite movies. Lots of great US Navy aircraft in it.
ReplyDelete...with wire hung miniature aircraft flown by the Lydecker brothers (?) I haven't fact checked that.
DeleteA friend of mine showed me archival out takes of Irwin Allen's Lost in Space miniature effects, complete with clack board. I howled in surprise at the Director, one of the Lydeckers and Camera by Ralph Hammaras!
I said don't you know who these people are? and my friend just replied -nope...
IMDb listings for the Lydecker brothers do not mention this movie.
DeleteYes Terra, I must always fact check before posting! Miniature Effects by John P Fulton, "using a Lydecker rig"
