Schuco Amphibious Cars

Schuco of Germany made some fabulous amphibious toy vehicles. Here's a few I've seen online.

Piccolo Schwimmwagen, open top

Blue Electric Amphibio, copied by uber-cloners T in a Circle (Tai Hing). The dinghy is a mystery.

And the Electric Amphibio in red and boxed.

Whilst googling I saw this too, a lovely sleek red toy car by King, who are new to me. I don't think it's amphibious but it looks grand!

Anyone got any of these?

  1. Schuco was an awesome company. I was lucky enough to have their Disneyland Monorail for many years. SFZ

Amphibious vehicles always have a special magic about them. But that Kubelwagen is not amphibious. It is the ancestor of the Schwimmwagen, and was the German counterpart to the Allied Jeep.
That King Convertible looks to be driving down a road, but still a great looking design.

    1. In the early 70's, at the height of the Dune Buggy craze, I had a magazine which featured a How To sequence on converting a VW beetle chassis into a dune Buggy. (Spoiler, it involved cutting 18 inches of length out of the floor pan, to accommodate the shorter fibreglass body shell!)
The most memorable quote from the mag, was a photo of a Kubelwagen which was labelled
"The fun Buggy of the Fatherland"!

  3. The yellow inflatable boat is also Schuco. It was a cable remote control with a wind up motor.
