O'Brian was an author who wrote Naval novels. Jack Aubrey was the hero. I watched the Master and Commander film, which is supposed to be based on one of his books.
The film is okay, the novels are brilliantly well written. In the movie, they missed out on the major fact that Maturin, Audrey's friend, is not only his ship's surgeon but is also an agent for Naval Intelligence.
Aubrey and a boarding party would be taken prisoner aboard Seaview and Maturin would figure out a way to escape and to sabotage the sub!
