Catch a Tram

I picked these up last month: plastic trams by German companies Wiking and SIKU.

There's something very endearing about these Straßenbahn and trams in general.

Our local big City, Leeds, doesn't have any. They once did decades ago but ripped them out!

Do you like toy trams? Has your city got a tram system?

MOTAT - the Museum of Transport and Technology has a few as part of their collection. Apart from that, there have been a number of attempts to reintroduce trams to Auckland over the decades. Auckland lost its original tram system in 1956.
I do have a few toy trams, and San Francisco cable cars.

    1. Those San Francisco cable cars are iconic aren't they Paul. I used to love seeing them on The Streets of San Francisco with Karl Marlden. Great TV.

  2. Trams, Trolleys, Interurbans and Cable Cars are wonderful artifacts of the age before personal automobiles took over - and ruined everything! SFZ

  4. Sydney town used to have trams in the 1950s. They had all been ripped out by the time I hit town in the early 70's.
The Sydney Opera House is built on the site of the former Fort Macquarie Tram Depot.

    1. Nowadays, Sydney has the hugely expensive Light Rail, that runs tram like cars on the old industrial rail lines out into the suburbs.
