Paul V's SpaceX Junkyard Ten Years On

Ten years ago my friend Paul Vreede found some rather sorry looking SpaceX custom wrecks.

You can re-read the full story here, of how Paul found them and what glories emerged from the salvage!

In summary, pictures tell the story really well too.

Before ....

And after!

The restored Apollo Tracker!

And a custom 'Surveyor' Project SWORD Moon Crawler ( blogged recently, which Paul kindly gave to me).

I'm sure you'll agree Paul did a sterling job fixing up those original junkers.

Paul still has a few Crawler parts spare if anyone would like to have a go at making one. Just email me.

  1. This amazing resurrection of a broken toy supports my theory that certain cultural artifacts have a way of finding their perfect home, where they will be appreciated and treasured forever. SFZ

  2. Thanks for the kind words, Woodsy. And thanks for the nice thought, SFZ. :)

Just to clarify: one of the two Surveyors in the 'before' picture is available as a donor vehicle to turn into a Sword Crawler. I won't be making another one but I can give some pointers on how I made the one for Woodsy's birthday. Wotan Bill once made a more abstract version as well (see https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2008/10/moon-crawlers-by-wotan.html ).
