1984 BBC1 Saturday tea time. Only shown once, never repeated. Think it was shown during the summer when Dr Who would be off air at that time. Desi Arnaz Jr as the scientist who created Automan and also Cursor - a small glowing shape that could create objects and vehicles like the Autocar (a neon coloured awesome Lamborghini Countach) . It was a rip-off of the 1982 movie Tron but set in the 'real' world. The only thing I remember about the stories themselves is the Autocar doing 90 degree turns (like the Tron lightcyles) during car chases causing Desi to be squashed against the window just like the stick on Garfield window clinging toys of the 80s.
Turns out there was a full set of toy figures from this show, along with a car, a motorcycle, and even a helicopter ! I don't remember it AT ALL, however. It must have been truly pants !
