Ed's Lionel Butterfinger Boxcar

Woodsy,

Here's a 'sweet' car from Lionel made during their MPC era - an era known for its wide variety of colorful, licensed rolling stock. It's one of many candy-related pieces of rolling stock out in The Cave.

Another great looking box car. Interesting that it carries the Curtiss Candy Company name - the original manufacturer of the Butterfinger bar.

    1. Thanx Paul! It is interesting in that Curtiss was sold to Standard Brands in 1961 and Lionel's MPC era was from 1970-86.

  2. Yep, very nostalgic that Ed. We're those carriages really called reefers?

    1. Yes Woodsy! Refrigerated railroad cars (whether through the use of ice blocks or mechanical refrigeration) are referred to here in the States as 'reefers' - a term that's been in use long before the more dubious meaning became popular.
