It's tricky and takes a bit of planning, Kev. I wanted to include the shading , but didn't want to over do it , my thinking was less is more . The lines on the kit bear little resemblance to the filming model which presumably would have had different make overs for each of the films, so I just looked for appealing and subtle patterns. I've got a couple more of these kits in the stash, including the lighted version, so I'll be revisiting the paint scheme at some point in the future.
Nice work! I never had the original AMT motion picture kit, then they retooled it and added boilerplate texture to the hull panels which destroyed the smooth surfaces! This kit looks like it's back to the original style!
That I like a lot! Not sure I've got the courage (or the energy), to take on that paint scheme.

Absolutely astounding! That tricky paint scheme would put me right over the edge - more power to you! SFZ
ReplyDeleteCheers Zigg. A lot of the finer detail I decided to do with an art brush rather than mask and spray. It's not perfect but it's quicker.
DeleteGorgeous Mike - that is a super model!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed. I've just finished giving it a coat of sealer ready for the decals tomorrow.
DeleteGreat build Scoop! Looks terrific already! Good luck with the rest of the project! Where will you display the finished model?
ReplyDeleteThanks Woodsy. Not sure where to display it as it's too big for the display cabinet!
DeleteA constant problem for makers and collectors Scoop!
DeleteAbsolutely, Woodsy.

Cheers Lewis. I'm afraid it still retains the 'brickwork' effect.
