Here's a small selection of miniature televisions in my collection.
The flicker Mickey and the 1980's bank promotional flicker robots are sharpeners, the taller Mickey television has a rollable paper strip with various images.
The rest are View-Master type see-thru viewers.

I had one just like the middle one on the top row. I think it was of scenes from Belgium, which is where I would've got it from.
ReplyDeleteThat model was made in Western Germany with scenes from Finland. I believe they made versions for many European countries.
DeleteWhat a great collection of miniature TV sets. Alas, I had nothing like this.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul.
DeleteIn Germany I understand their called guckis (which translates to lookers). I think they're still being made.
ReplyDeleteYes Woodsy, they were very popular souvenirs and still are I'd believe.
DeleteWhat a fantastic collection of vintage mini televisions, Arto. I can vaguely remember having something similar as a kid, but can't remember any details. Great to see these though.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony, glad to be able to show them here. Looking for more!
ReplyDeleteMini TVs were a staple of my 60's childhood, although I never actually had one.
ReplyDeleteI went hunting recently to try to recapture that vibe and found it's all "silly prices" now.
I have several ideas for Art Toys that incorporate this style of TV in them, but I just have too many other wonderful ideas that I'm working on ATM...
Good luck with your projects Looey!
