Hi Woodsy.
What do you make of this?
My Skydiver model, about 19" long . Made of resin I think, on a wooden base, which has an intriguing label on the bottom!
I suspect it is just a skydiver model that someone has stuck a Space Models of Feltham sticker on. Or?
I've had it for nearly 30 years, bought off a Scalex dealer from North London for about 50 quid if I remember.
Wouldn't it be nice if it was really one made by space models.
I doubt it but who knows! Do you?
Will O,
UK
It's a lovely model, not massively detailed, so I doubt it was intended to be filmed. Maybe it's an advertising prop for the company or a desk model? Bill
ReplyDeleteI suspect it is a Space Models model, but not made for the show UFO.
ReplyDeleteMaybe for a private commission, or as a demo model for the Century 21 reception desk.
I've been looking up which Skydivers C21 used on set Will. The Prop Gallery, who held many UFO props for sale, state that "It is believed that the complete Skydiver was built in two scales measuring approximately 30” and 60” " https://www.thepropgallery.com/filmed-in-miniature-the-models-of-ufoYours looks like a desk model and a beautiful one at that. They clearly made desk models judging by what I've seen online, for instance, an RAF Tornado Desk Top Aircraft, a Concorde https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/11090/lot/412/, a Beoing 747 https://collection.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/objects/co8408793/scale-model-of-air-canada-boeing-747-200-made-by-space-models-ltd There's also modern desk top Skydivers like the one made in the Philipines by PlaneArts on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372926952992
ReplyDeleteIf it was made by space models , it could be a private commission as mish suggests. Short of somebody from space models remembering making the thing ,we’ll probably never know! Will O
Deletesuggests .
