Snowed-In in Shipley

I'm currently snowed in at the Grandkids' gaff. Schools closed. The hill's undrivable. The car's Snowbound. Cars attempting the hill road are skidding and burning rubber. Yep, it's winter in West Yorkshire.

What's it like near you readers?

  1. Cold in Chester. Snow has gone and, finally, after 3 days it has stopped raining!

  3. No snow here in Hemel Hempstead Woodsy, but depending where you are in Shipley, you could do worse than take a Winter walk to the nearest pub.
Is The Travellers Rest, in Windhill, near you ?
That was my Dad's favourite one.

  5. Cool with a cold wind out of the northwest here in Lost Wages, NV. Now waiting for the smoke from the fires in LA to start blanketing the skies.

  6. It's the height of summer down here at Oz Base. The cicadas are playing merry hell with my hearing aids and the noise outside my head matches my inside!
Oddly, despite the threat of bushfires, It's quite cool at the moment with extended rains forecast.
I'm back in my winter pajamas at this instant

  7. We had a dusting of snow last weekend in Connecticut and this Monday a dusting in Manhattan.

Since then it has been well below freezing but dry and windy. Either I'm feeling the cold more with age or it's just penetrating regardless of outer clothing.

Snow clearing of roads isn't an issue as winter is not the surprise it always seems to be in the UK to public authorities.

    1. I know what you mean Terran. Winter always catches us by surprise. It's like Flu and Snowmageddon at the moment. Recession looms too! All good news from Blighty!

  8. Another light dusting of snow this morning in Burscough, but standing water from the recent rains makes the paths slippery. Bill
