A really nice collection. Regarding the Merit set at the bottom - if you are on the Moon, and you want to talk to Earth, you are going to need a really long cord.
Other than my Flintstones phone I had/have nothing else in the collection. However, at one time I had a boxed set of toy Navy blinker lights modeled after those used for sending signals ship-to-ship.

ReplyDeleteGreat toys. I love the fins on the back. They actually work too, as long as you had a straight line between the handsets and the cord was taught!
ReplyDeleteThe Lone Star Space Ace Space Phone was cloned as a Finnish version in the Fifties, with identical box graphics and even the same catalogue number.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how many toys they managed to produce using "tin cans and a string" technology! SFZ
