Fixing up Junior' Green Hornet scrapper, before he colours it in in two weeks, has been as fiddly as Kato's cap.
The scanner and missile ejector mechanisms are groaningly temperamental and may yet spoil it for Junior. They do work now and then and when they do they fly! I just hope they work when he has a bash!
Still, my part of the job is nearly done now.
I bought some plastic half-jewels for a squid and filed two down for the green headlights. Some of the Missus's red wire made the trim.
I also re-chromed the grille.
Kato was missing so a small figure was cut to size, cap heat-flattened and painted.
A new windscreen was added using an old polypocket folder.
The Green Hornet was twisted inwards so some pliers dragged him round to the window again. He's lost his gun but that's life.
I just need to glue Kato in now if Bruce will let me!
He did!
Really nice work on the headlights. The figures came out well too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul. Keeping it a little rough and ready as Junior will knock it about a bit once he starts playing with it!
DeleteNice restoration on an iconic vehicle - I always wished the TV series was as cool as the car! SFZ
ReplyDeleteThanks very much SF!
DeleteThanks a bunch SF. Oddly enough I never really saw the series. I was too young to know Kato was Bruce Lee, but he wasn't a Kung Fu superstar then. I did love the Black Beauty though, part of that classic gang of TV cars that came out like the Monkeemobile and Batmobile et al.
DeleteWhat are you going to do about that amazing Green Hornet logo on the roof?
ReplyDeleteLuckily it's still on Looey!
DeleteHad this as a kid. Great die cast
ReplyDeleteOne of the classics yes.
DeleteGreat project Woodsy! Now I'm wondering why I never added the Black Beauty to my diecast collection?
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed. Hope you guys are OK.
Deletewe're hangin' in there Woodsy! The granddaughter and I have colds that won't quit - constant coughing and runny noses
DeleteSorry to hear that Ed. Lots of rest and cups of tea! Take it easy you guys.
