A colleague from my early VFX days and a person I have tremendous respect for! We've kinda drifted apart since he moved from Australia to live in Weta's basement in New Zealand, but we still keep in touch occasionally.

DeleteYeah, I went over there to work on The Hobbit (5 armies) and Elysium. I got to meet up with my ex-pat colleagues Shari Amber Finn (Matrix Reloaded), Warren Beaton (Power Rangers Movie) and David Tremont (The Time Guardian)
ReplyDeleteI was truly honoured to be invited to work at what is the Mount Olympus of Film Design. Everyone was at the top of their game, 24/7. I acquitted myself admirably, but my Father back home was noticeably fading during our weekly phone calls, so I decided to go home to look after him in his final years.
Like so much of my film career, it was an amazing period, but it didn't last.
I look back on that life as series of glittering merry-go-rounds, -sooner or later you have to get off.
I love that analogy Looey, could be one for life itself.
