I've started my next Do-It-Yourself Dalek toy gun, Lincoln International's 1965 Dr. Who Anti-Dalek Sonic Disintegrator.
My reference point for this scarce toy is this image on Christopher Hill's fabulous Space Museum gallery. There are a few more on the net too such as Worthpoint.
Setting off, this great looking vintage hot air stripper was a steal on Ebay and I hoped would give my project a real first blast.
I kicked off by taking it apart, which was great fun!
I then started building up the various parts of the barrel. Still a way to go!
I'm still not sure how this is all going to turn out: it could really be a lot of hot air!
Early days yet so I'll not be worrying Skaro's Finest any time soon.
I need a banana.

DeleteIs that a block of plasticene for the mid section, or are you going the papier-mache route again?
ReplyDeleteYou might consider the David Sissons option and use car repair putty over the thoroughly dried mache. It will harden it up, but more importantly, with a bit of sanding and elbow grease, you can achieve a plastic like surface. It is, after all plastic (polymer putty) which will paint up a treat!
Its a thick card tube cut to size Looey, Car Putty sounds too technical for me, although slapping it over papier mache sounds like fun! My next toy guns in this Dr. Who project will take a different route. Ill be blogging them in November and December.
