See you at the Party Ed! Just bring a Toy!

My latest obsession.

This year on my blog Toys and Stuff, I've really been drilling down into vintage spacemen and aliens from a variety of manufacturers: Airfix, Colourforms, GIANT Plastics of Hong Kong, Greenbrier, Lido, Marx, Tim-Mee Toy, unknown makers, and more.

Well, photographing and enjoying all these spacemen made me finally bite the bullet and buy something I've wanted for many years now: T. Cohn's fabulous tin-litho Space Port with Lido figures and spaceships. I haven't yet blogged the Space Port because I'm still in the process of buying odds-&-ends to complete it.

The photo I've attached shows my incomplete set and since this was taken, several more job lots of Lido figures and accessories have come in and right now I'm waiting for a fellow collector to go through his stuff to see if he has more figures I need.

The building itself is quite small - smaller than I imagined when seeing photos of it, but the overall compound with all the fence pieces in place, does give it a larger feel. For many collectors this is the Holy Grail of collecting and it was certainly mine and I feel blessed to have the chance to finally acquire it for the collection!

  2. That's one wonderful playset as it stands, I love the colourful lithos and those Lido spaceships. I'm sure you will be able to bring it to completion in no time. A crown jewel of any collection (and you have a plenty of those, Ed!)

    1. Many Thanx Arto! The hardest pieces to find have been the Lido WWII Army figures (all figures and plastic accessories were provided by Lido for inclusion into the T. Cohn set). AND as hard as the Army men are to find, the helmets that went with them are next to impossible to come upon!
